Highlights from the 2020 Virtual EMEA Spring Programme

21 MAY 2020

This spring, Goldman Sachs hosted our 2020 Virtual EMEA Spring Programme for 168 students from 68 different universities and 17 countries.

Over the course of two weeks, students participated in a virtual experience aimed at introducing potential candidates to our businesses and life at Goldman Sachs. The program included a welcome from chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs EMEA, Richard Gnodde, panel discussions with leaders across business lines, and open hours for students to network with Goldman Sachs recruiters. Although a fully virtual program was a first for many, one student found some advantages in having an online experience. “Being able to listen to the various speakers seamlessly across different divisions has been truly inspiring and opened my mind to the multitude of career opportunities at Goldman Sachs.” Another noted, “Even though I was interning in Global Markets, the virtual programming made it very easy to get insight into other areas of the firm including Private Wealth Management and Merchant Banking.”

Throughout the program, students were paired with a Goldman Sachs professional called their “buddy” and were assigned a project that they would later present back to the business. This opportunity was a popular favorite among interns, one noting, “The highlight of my internship was communicating daily with my buddy and partnering together on the research project. I learned a lot of new interesting concepts that I hope to extend on.”

For more lighthearted fun, recruiters hosted a photo competition where students shared images of their work from home desk, items they couldn’t live without and their current city.

Stay tuned for more updates on our virtual internship programming around the world.
